The weapons of 2020 for a social media strategist

A little while ago I followed a webinar about social media organised by Eveline Rylant. The workshop consisted of 5 major steps to build a good social media strategy. What I especially remembered are the weapons that some social media channels use and are becoming more and more popular. This is what my blog post will be about today.

The LinkedIn Community

You can set up a group or community on LinkedIn. As a company, you can encourage your target group to follow your community. In this way, they can easily stay up to date with information or events about your organisation.

The group is also open to professionals working in the same sector. They can share insights and experiences with you, but also ask for advice.

Instagram Features

If you want to get inspired and discover new things, then you should definitely take a look at the Instagram Features!

One of the most booming parts of this is the IGTV or Instagram televison, where you can watch long videos. It takes over your entire screen and lasts longer than 1 minute!

“Discover original video content from creators you already love, or new accounts you might like” (Instagram, 2020)

The content is personalized and based on your interests. This means that as a company you can easily target your customers!

The Facebook Family

Facebook owns more than 14 products or apps. We call this the Facebook Family.

Three well-known products are Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. The biggest advantage of this family is that they are in sync with each other. This means that you can switch between the apps very easily and quickly.

For companies, this is a big advantage as well. Advertising with Facebook is very easy. With one click you can place advertisements on multiple apps of the family at the same time. And that with only 1 budget.

Three golden rules to finish

  1. Always think quality over quantity. It is better to post good social media content than just gathering many likes.

  2. Create a dashboard by yourself! Keep statistics on what you post, put important key performance indicators in it and maintain this every month.

  3. Do you have a great and powerful topic? Don't just post it once, but fill an entire content calendar with it!

Do you like to keep up with the latest trends as a communications strategist?

Then start using these social media weapons and follow the golden rules.

Good luck!

See you in the next PREVIEW!
